Inter-operable digital transaction platform will be launched in January: Minister of State

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed said the Inter-operative Digital Transaction Platform (IDTP) would be launched in January.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the cost and harassment of financial transactions and bringing people online through digital services. She was speaking at the second session of ‘Capacity Building Training for Anand Mela Platform Users in Bangladesh Kick of Workshop’ organized by Bangladesh Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Bangabandhu International Conference Center here on Sunday.

Junaid Ahmed said the startup ecosystem has developed in the country due to various initiatives of the government in developing the startup culture. Startups are being given grants through the Idea project initiated by the ICT department.

Mentioning that digital economy is developing in the country, the state minister said that investors have started business activities in 6 out of 39 high-tech parks. Of these, 120 companies have invested Tk 328 crore in 5 of them and more than 13,000 jobs have been created. He said the completion of the high-tech parks would provide employment to more than 300,000 people and set a target of investing Tk 2,400 crore in the parks by 2025.

Junaid Ahmed said non-refundable Rs 50,000 will be given to 2,000 small women entrepreneurs in the country for developing and marketing websites.

UNDP Country Economist Nazneen Ahmed also spoke on the occasion under the chairmanship of BWCCI President Selima Ahmed.
