Is Aamir Khan taking a big risk by competing with ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’? | Telugu Movie News

Until ‘Baahubali 2’ came about, the Indian cinema box-office was dominated by Bollywood. There used to be a huge gap in the commercial exploits of Hindi and regional cinemas, and perhaps not just in terms of collections but budgets, scale, and reach.

Post the stupendous success of ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, box-office calculations had changed. Now ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ is ready to roar on a pan-India level and the film’s teaser has already proven to be a humongous hit on YouTube, with over 200M views. This Sandalwood movie is gearing up for a release not just in Kannada but across all major film industries such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam since the first installment of ‘KGF’ was well-received digitally by the north Indian belt despite not having many expectations.

Now, audiences across all industries are eagerly awaiting this Pan-Indian film that is slated for April 14, 2022 summer release. Amidst such huge anticipation, no other big film is daring to compete with ‘KGF-2’ at the box office nationally but now, going against the grain, Aamir Khan‘s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ has been slated for the same day release. And with all the aforementioned weight that ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ is expected to carry, one wonders if the veteran Bollywood actor is gambling his film by forming a box-office clash.

‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ stars Aamir Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Kareena Kapoor Khan which is a remake of the Academy award-winning 1994 film ‘Forrest Gump’.

The other Telugu films releasing in the 2022 summer, but not exactly on the same day, are Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarkaru Vari Paata’ and Venkatesh’s ‘F3’. Though Mahesh’s film is not slated for April 14, it is coming out on 01 April 2022. Since there is a gap of 14 days, the film can be expected to have its collections guaranteed before ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ comes out in theaters. Whereas ‘F3’ hasn’t announced its release date yet, though they have hinted it for a summer release.

We’ll have to wait and watch if both the filmmakers will discuss and change the dates with close to four months remaining in the interim. And should they choose to stick to their current plans, will this box-office faceoff cause any damage to one another’s collections?
