When Kayserispor recorded three successive wins either side of the September international break, Yalcin Kosukavak would have had high hopes for a season spent in the top half of the standings.
However, collecting just five points in six games has left Anatolian Star having to focus their efforts on trying to move clear of the bottom four.
Four points from two fixtures has helped their cause, their latest outing against Turkish giants Fenerbahce ending in a 2-2 draw.
Nevertheless, Kayserispor conceded twice just the final five minutes to effectively drop two points, and it remains to be seen how they will react to that disappointment.
On a more positive note, Mario Gavranovic netted his third goal in five appearances, the Swiss forward giving his side the boost that they needed in the final third.
As far as Goztepe are concerned, they have claimed just two wins all season, the most recent triumph coming at Kasimpasa on October 17.
To their credit, Goz Goz have not conceded more than two goals in any match this season, with netting just 11 at the other end leading to their downfall.
However, it should be noted that Nestor El Maestro’s team possess the eighth-best away record in the division, collecting six points from as many outings.
Their only setbacks on the road have been by 2-1 scorelines, one of those matches being at Galatasaray in a game which they led at the break.
Having impressed for the majority of the contest at Fenerbahce, the same Kayserispor team could be selected for this game.
However, right-back Onur Bulut comes back into contention after a ban, and that may lead to Ramazan Civelek dropping down to the substitutes’ bench.
Miguel Cardoso is also an option in the final third if Kosukavak opts to freshen up in creative areas.
Goztepe will be without Yalcin Kayan after the midfielder was handed a straight red card during the defeat to Konyaspor.
David Tijanic, who has three goals to his name this season, is in line to deputise in the centre of the pitch.
