Starch is the sticky liquid released while cutting or slicing the potatoes and the best way to get rid of that is by soaking chopped or sliced potatoes in a large vessel of water.

Make sure the water is cold, washing it once or twice helps in removing the scratch on the upper layer of the flesh.

After washing them once under cold water, soak all the potato pieces in clean cold water, rinse again and repeat the process with clean water. You will gradually observe that the starch will settle down in the button and water will turn whitish in colour.

Finally, wash and allow the water to drain out and then bake, air fry or cook the potatoes.

Removing starch ensures that the fries or potato bites won’t crumble easily. The process may be time talking but the results will be worth the effort.
