A teenager named Faizul Alam Ullas (18) was killed when his motorcycle collided with a private vehicle on the flyover in Matikata area of the capital’s Cantonment Police Station. The accident took place on the morning of National Safe Roads Day on Friday.
According to police, Faizul Alam was killed on the spot when he was hit by a private car at around 7 am. Faizul Alam is a class XI student of Mirpur College.
Cantonment Police Station OC Kazi Shahan Haque told Prothom Alo that Faizul was going to a 300-foot area from his house at Mirpur-12 on a motorcycle.
Attempts to overtake a bicycle while climbing the flyover. At this time a private car pushed him from behind. Faizul was seriously injured when he fell on the road. He died on the spot.
OC Shahan Haque said Faizul visits the 300-foot area every Friday. Going there, he took part in a motorcycle riding competition with friends. The driver fled in a private car after the accident. The body was handed over without an autopsy as there was no complaint from the family.
