The Alianza of El Salvador beat Tauro 2-0, with a goal from Colombian Raúl Peñaranda, in the first game of the round of 16 of the 2019 Concacaf League, and will seek in Panama to seal its ticket to the quarterfinals of said competition.

The Alianza, led by the Colombian Wilsón Gutiérrez, was more forceful in the match, dominated the game and was clearly superior to a Taurus who barely reached the goal guarded by the Uruguayan Rafael García.

The first arrival of the match was recorded at minute 3 by the Alliance through Marvin Monterroza who took a free kick that passed near the goal of Tauro, led by Uruguayan Saúl Maldonado.

Then, at minute 12, it was the Colombian Peñaranda who cheered up, but the goalkeeper Humberto Acevedo was well placed in the center of the goal and stopped the shot of the 28-year-old South American who has become the top gunner of the ” capital ”.

At 35, the Salvadoran Juan Carlos Portillo took a powerful cross from the left wing and Diego Ascencio reached the ball and tried with his head, but Acevedo saved.

Two minutes later, at 35, a long pass from Monterroza reaches Soto’s feet that stings the ball over goalkeeper Acevedo and Peñaranda finishes to put the 1-0 on the scoreboard.

The actions of the first half closed with an advantage for the locals.

The “albos” continued to control the game when they returned from halftime and their collective game allowed them to get the second goal of the night.

After this goal, the Panamanians backed down instead of looking for the discount that would give them relief for the return game scheduled for Thursday 29.

Portillo had to put the 3-0 in favor of the Alliance but he could not control the ball and it ended up leaving the field of the Cuscatlán Stadium.

The match concluded without major incidents. The Alliance responded to their fans and the Taurus men leave El Salvador with a double weight on their shoulders.
