Actress Dia Mirza, who tied the knot with Vaibhav Rekhi this year, is celebrating her first Diwali with her son Avyaan. The couple welcomed their baby boy in May through an emergency C-section.

Her son was in the neonatal ICU for a while and recently, the couple took him home. Speaking about her first Diwali with him, Dia told Hindustan Times, “It is overwhelming to see Avyaan celebrate his first Diwali after all the challenges he had to overcome this year. He is truly a little champ and it has been so enriching to see him deal with everything that came his way with a big smile and such a pure, joyful spirit.”

She also spoke about facing health-related challenges during and after her pregnancy. She said, “I hope, as adults, we too can go back to this state of utter innocence and trust in the universe. Both Vaibhav and I, are truly grateful to be able to celebrate our very first Diwali with Avyaan.” She also said that the festivities will be sustainable, green and mindful of the environment and wants to pass on the traditions to her son.

Meanwhile, Dia was last seen in Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Thappad’ with Taapsee Pannu. She recently appeared in an OTT show with Soni Razdan, Aahana Kumra and Rajat Kapoor.
