It’s sources say so far, but there’s definitely a certain amount of buzz emanating from Bollywood circles that Sajid Khan is toying with the idea of returning to wield the megaphone, and if all goes well, he might have donned the director’s hat again next year.

Sajid hasn’t directed a movie after the Saif Ali Khan-Riteish Deshmukh-Bipasha Basu-Esha Gupta starrer ‘Humshakals’ (2014). But 7 years down the line now, he’s tying up his laces to call ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ on a project which is under finalisation.

The producer in question is most likely going to be Amar Butala, who will soon start with the Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Bull’ which he’s co-producing with Bhushan Kumar and Garima Mehta (who’s a partner in Butala’s company).

If all goes well, Sajid and Butala have John Abraham and Riteish Deshmukh in mind to head the cast. A source says, “As things stand today, the film will be a comedy.”

The John-Riteish film may go on floors sometime in mid-2002 but only after ‘Bull’ is majorly done.

Despite repeated attempts, Butala, Deshmukh and Khan remained unavailable for comment.

Sajid began his directorial innings with the Ram Gopal Varma produced ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’ (2006). His high-point was the ‘Housefull’ franchise- Part 1 (2010) and Part 2 (2012)- after which he fell out with its producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Reportedly, things ironed out, or were made to iron out, between them after some time- but Khan hasn’t directed for Nadiadwala after that.

‘Housefull’ starred Akshay Kumar, Chunky Panday, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan, Lara Dutta and Boman Irani in main roles. ‘Housefull 2’ starred Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Chunky Panday, Riteish Deshmukh, Randhir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez Asin, Zarine Khan and Boman Irani.
