“Our ceremonies were at different times. I think they went out of their way to keep us in different time slots,” quipped the actress. When Kangana was asked if she would have spoken to him at the event, the actress shared, “I tried to spot him around and he wasn’t there. I would have spoken to him. There can be conflicts and disagreements but that doesn’t mean that you do not believe in co-existing. That’s what I speak about and giving equal opportunities to all, be it outsider-insider, underprivileged, nepotism. I encourage co-existence of all kids so I was not going to misbehave.” Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar have been at loggerheads since 2017. While attending KJo’s chat show, the actress had called the filmmaker the ‘flag-bearer of nepotism’ for launching star kids in Bollywood. When Kangana was asked if they can be friends, the actress had stated, “Friends is like stretching it. People can be friends only if they have similar intellectual vibe.”
Soon after receiving the prestigious honour, Kangana had shared on Instagram, “Long ago when I started my career …. A question bothered me … I asked myself some want money, some want fans …. some seek fame and some just want attention …. What do I want ? Deep down I always knew as a girl child I wanted to earn respect and that is my treasure ❤️ Thank you India for this gift.”
