Kubbra Sait on taking a break from Twitter: I don’t have to be everywhere at the cost of myself | Hindi Movie News

Kubbra Sait never shies away from speaking their heart out, whether it’s on social media or in person. While with fame comes trolling and criticism on the internet, she is among some of the first artistes who had quit Twitter for a brief period of time. Later, she was reactivated her account and was promoting her Hollywood debut project actively on the micro-blogging site. Talking to ETimes, Kubbra shared her thoughts on social media. Excerpts…

As an actor, do you think one is a soft target on social media?

If you are responsible about what you say then how does it matter if you are a target or not? Do you have your truth by your side? Then stand by your truth. End of story. If that makes you a target or an icon or activist, it is the problem of the people who are judging and labelling you. Period!

What about the hate comments and trolling?

They exist, but so do the good comments, happy people and their encouragement.

So, it’s balanced…

It has to be! That’s life, not social media.

Nowadays there’s a trend of celebs quitting Twitter…

I left Twitter for a while and came back to promote ‘Foundation.’ I’m okay with the choices I have made. I don’t have to be everywhere at the cost of myself. I don’t think there’s anybody in the world more important than I am. I don’t mean this in a self-obsessed, narcissistic way; I mean it for my mental health, my family, the concern I have. I mean through social media I may not be able to attain action, but on ground, I may be able to achieve better results. So, if I can propel my mind to action instead of just talking about it, I think I am in a better place.

Did your time away from social media help?

Yes, I had more time to bathe. Seriously, I could bathe for 10 minutes instead of just five. It was beautiful!

Was it any different when you came back to promote your film?

No, it’s just the same! I mean I’m in Mumbai, eating ghar ka khana (homecooked food) every day, playing with my cat and doing fun things, catching up with people I love. I do things like normal people. For me, normalcy is more important than being a star.
