‘Sooryavanshi’ box office collection day 8: Akshay Kumar’s action entertainer records a drop as it collects Rs 7.25 crore | Hindi Movie News

After a grand opening in theatres on Diwali day, ‘Sooryavanshi’ recorded a slight drop in collections on Friday. The film has majorly had a positive stay at the ticket windows but the second Friday brought in a dip. According to Boxofficeindia.com, the film dropped 10 per cent from Thursday to Friday as it collected 7.25 crore nett. However, collections coming in from the Maharahstra circuit remain rock steady.

The total collection of ‘Sooryavanshi’ now stands at a whopping Rs 127.50 crore nett. The film is expected to rake in 45 crore nett in its second weekend. ‘Sooryavanshi’ has done very good business in the central India markets of Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI too. It has emerged as a blockbuster hit in Gujarat as well. Interestingly, this winning streak of ‘Sooryavanshi’ will continue on the digital platforms too. The film has been reportedly sold for Rs 100 crore to a streaming platform and it will premiere on December 4.

‘Sooryavanshi’ stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead with Ajay Devgn as ‘Singham’ and Ranveer Singh as ‘Simmba’ essaying key cameos. This cop drama is directed by Rohit Shetty and is packed with his signature action and dialogues. ‘Sooryavanshi’ was ready for release in March 2020, just when the nationwide lockdown was announced. There were several rumours of the makers opting for a direct-to-digitl release, however their wait for a theatrical release has paid off.
