Another 11 people were arrested in connection with the attack on Hindu Para in Pirganj

Police have arrested two youths for allegedly inciting people before the attack on Hindu Para in Rangpur’s Pirganj. A new case has been filed against the two under the Digital Security Act. Police have also arrested nine more people in connection with house vandalism, arson and looting. 53 people were arrested in the incident.

The two arrested under the Digital Security Act are Ujjwal Hasan, 21, of Bara Majidpur village near Barakarimpur area in Majhipara. In addition to her studies, she trained in sewing for an organization called Bengal Tailor Training. The other is Al Amin (22) of Kishoregari village in Pirganj Sadar Union.

Pirganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Suresh Chandra told Prothom Alo that the two were arrested on Tuesday night. A new case was filed against the two under the Digital Security Act on Wednesday. The plaintiff in the new case is Sub-Inspector (SI) Saddam Hussein. At the same time, they are also accused in separate cases of vandalism and arson in Hindu houses.

The OC further said that 40 days before the incident, Ujjwal Hasan and Paritosh Sarkar of Majhipara area had an argument on Facebook about making offensive comments on Facebook. Ujjwal Hasan sent screenshots of his offensive post to various people to punish Paritosh. In this people start organizing. Became excited. At one stage, attacks and violent incidents took place in the homes of Hindus.

Allegations of insulting religion on Facebook led to an attack on a Hindu community home in Ramnathpur Union in Pirganj on Sunday night. In the three cases filed in this incident, 53 people have been arrested.

Pirganj police said the plaintiff in two of the three cases was Pirganj police sub-inspector (SI) Ismail Hossain. One of the cases was related to vandalism, arson and looting of Hindu houses. There are 52 accused in the case including 11 new arrests.

The other two cases have been filed under the Digital Security Act. In one of the two cases, Paritosh Sarkar (19) was accused of posting insulting religion on Facebook. The other is in the Digital Security Act. Ujjwal Hasan and Al Amin are the two accused of inciting people by spreading offensive posts about religion on Facebook.
