The party leaders have urged party chairman GM Quader not to appoint Jatiya Party general secretary under any pressure.

The call was made at a meeting held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the capital on Friday in memory of the late Jatiya Party general secretary Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu.

Syed Abu Hossain, president of Japar Dhaka South, called for the appointment of a Por Khawa and a worker-friendly secretary general, saying a person should be appointed who would take the Jatiya Party to its core goal. The chairman has his own powers under the constitution to elect the secretary general, but he hopes to take a decision in consultation with party leaders.

Opposition chief whip Mashiur Rahman said he did not want to be the party’s secretary general, adding that everyone should work to strengthen the party. Japa will have to go to power once again.

Khulna Sylhet Divisional Additional Secretary General Shahidur Rahman said, “Whether you make a mistake or correct it, the decision of the leader must be accepted.” That is the rule.

At the commemoration meeting, GM Quader Ziauddin highlighted various issues of Bablu’s colorful political life. He said Ziauddin Bablu was a man of the common people. The Jatiya Party wants to be an active party, which was his dream.

Jatiya Party senior co-chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud said it was Ziauddin Bablu’s dream to come to power under the leadership of GM Quader. He called upon the leaders and workers of the party to work in unity for this.
