The Prime Minister called upon the party leaders and workers to maintain communal harmony

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said Bangladesh is a non-communal democratic country. In this country, citizens of all religions have to show respect to other religions.
For this, the Prime Minister has suggested to increase the surveillance to maintain the harmony of the leaders and workers of her party as well as to hold peace conferences, peace processions and peace meetings.

Sheikh Hasina said this while participating in the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed ‘Office Building’ of Comilla Awami League on Thursday afternoon. He said measures should be taken to maintain communal harmony so that no clashes take place. Because, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians can all live well in this land. The Prime Minister joined the function through video conference from Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said at the call of the Father of the Nation, all people irrespective of religion and caste have taken up arms and made this country independent. Therefore, this freedom cannot be allowed to fail in any way. He said that what happened in Comilla is very sad. Because the teaching of Islam is to respect human religion. Just as everyone has the right to practice their own religion, no one can despise the religion of others. It does not teach Islam. And along with respecting one’s own religion, one has to respect the religion of others as well. If one despises another religion, one’s own religion becomes disrespectful.

The Prime Minister said, ‘If we analyze the incident in Comilla, we will see that. Our Holy Qur’an has insulted the religion of others. This is the saddest thing. Everyone has to protect their own religion. In other words, no one will take the law into their own hands. If someone commits a crime, whoever he is, the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Our government will judge him.

Sheikh Hasina said that the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) has said that no one will go too far with religion. So everyone has to abide by that and know, then the right education can be found. Every religion speaks of peace, everyone wants peace. The Prime Minister said, ‘We live in a non-communal society in Bangladesh, where we will have harmony with the religion of all and we have to continue with this harmony. Because people of all religions have been living together in this country for ages.

Recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs of the great liberation war, the Prime Minister said all religions have become one with the blood of those who gave blood, not seeing any religion there. And it must be remembered by all. In Bangladesh, people of all religions, castes and all classes and professions will walk with dignity and respect.

The Prime Minister said that such incidents are sometimes tried to hinder the development and progress of Bangladesh. He said that after the incident in Comilla, the incidents that took place in different places including Pirganj, houses were burnt, tents were set up and arrangements were made for their stay. From dry food to cooked food, distribution, clothing and treatment have been arranged. All the affected people will be given houses. He has already taken action.

Comilla Metropolitan Awami League President and MP AKM Bahauddin delivered the welcome address from Comilla. At the time, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Local Awami League leaders including Tajul Islam, Awami League Organizing Secretary Abu Saeed Al Mahmud were present on the outskirts of Comilla.

The Prime Minister said that no matter how much wealth there is, it does not work in bad times. He said that if people die, this wealth will remain, it will be of no use. Therefore, helping the poorest people as much as possible is the teaching of the father of the nation and Islam. And the Awami League has been established to serve the people, it must be remembered. Every leader and activist of the Awami League must follow the ideals of the father of the nation.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the Awami League government has provided houses for the Vedas, the third sex and even for the lepers. He said, “The way I see people as human beings, the leaders and workers of Awami League also have to serve the people as they see them.”

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Awami League is an organization which has become the father of the nation, an organization that has achieved the independence of this country. And if the Awami League is in power, the country will improve and the people will prosper. But those who came to power after ’75, they have packed their sugarcane without giving anything to the people. Therefore, we want the Awami League to have an office in every district of Bangladesh.
Referring to the food surplus area of Comilla, the Prime Minister highlighted various aspects of river infrastructure development including dredging and reservoir rehabilitation. “We are taking all kinds of measures and it will continue,” he said. The government is making arrangements so that those who live in the villages can get all kinds of civic amenities in the city.

In response to the demand to transform Comilla into a division, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke of establishing a ‘Padma’ with Faridpur and its adjoining districts and a ‘Meghna’ with Comilla and its adjoining districts.

Referring to the Bangladesh Awami League as the most brutally tortured political organization after ’75, the Awami League president said, “Wherever there is any torture on the people, the Awami League stands by it.” The Awami League stands by the people even during natural calamities. And the job of BNP-Jamaat is to destroy. How many people have given their lives in their arson, they have killed innumerable leaders and workers, they have inflicted indescribable torture.

Mentioning that the grassroots people have started getting the touch of development of the Awami League government today, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Father of the Nation said, we have soil, we have people, with that we will build the country. That is what we believe. We are not going to get our hands on anyone. Because, the beggar nation has no respect, that education has also been given by the father of the nation. ‘

Sheikh Hasina said, in fact, when the country is developing, there is a class, they can never accept it. Bangladesh will walk with its head held high, it is not to their liking. And BNP-Jamaat will never like it, because Khaleda Zia has always had ‘Pakistan in pairs’ in her heart.

The Prime Minister said firmly, ‘Bangladesh is an independent country today. Therefore, no one will be able to harm Bangladesh in the future. We will never be subject to anyone else. As an independent nation, we will continue to raise our heads all over the world. Everyone should remember that. ‘

Sheikh Hasina further said that Awami League is a people’s organization and they will change the destiny of the people of this country. They will give a better life to the people of the country, will meet the basic needs of the people. And as a victorious nation in the war of liberation, we will continue to stand tall in the world court, which the father of the nation wanted.
