Attack on followers of traditional religions, human chain of JOB teachers association

The teachers’ association of Jagannath University has protested against the vandalism and attack on temples of followers of traditional religions in different parts of the country. The teachers took part in a human chain organized in front of the central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday and demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits. They also blamed the local administration for failing to prevent the attack.

The teachers who took part in the human chain organized by the Jagannath University Teachers’ Association alleged that conspiracies were being hatched to repeatedly attack minorities to destabilize the state. And these things happen again and again because they are not judged.

The general secretary of the teachers’ association Shamima Begum presided over the human chain and the president of the organization Noor-Alam. “We want to say that the administration of those areas cannot avoid responsibility for these incidents,” he said. We demand their trial. He added, ‘Now the followers of traditional religions are being attacked. And those who think we are safe, they too may be attacked one day, unless we protest now. ‘

Addressing the followers of traditional religion, Shamima Begum, general secretary of the teachers ‘association, said,’ You are not alone, we are here to share our sorrows. I will protest with you. If this apprehensive position is not removed, it will not be possible to create a non-communal Bangladesh of Bangabandhu.

University Proctor Mostafa Kamal stressed on finding the roots of these incidents. “We have seen attacks on minorities in 1971 as well,” he said. Later, they have been repeatedly attacked to create a volatile environment in the country.

Kamaluddin Ahmed, treasurer of Manobbandhan, said, ‘Our country is a non-communal country. There is no chance of any chaos about religion here.

Vice Chancellor Imdadul Haque said, ‘In Bangladesh, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians all live like one family. It is our national heritage. What happened is that such an incident happened at a major festival of the Hindus. Some quarters are saying that this is the manipulation of the government. The government always wants peace in the country.
